Robert Wilson Moorehead of McCarthy Place, Stratford, Ontario passed away peacefully on Thursday December 3rd, 2020 at the Stratford General Hospital in his 94th year. He was the beloved soulmate of Jean (Wilson) for 72 years, the amazing father of Margee Creery (Steve) and the incredible grandpa of Beth Reid (Derek) and Anna Creery (Lyle). He was also an awesome great-grandpa to four kids – Robbie, Clara Jean, Autumn, and Mary Reid. He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and William Moorehead. He came from a family of 6 boys. William (Marian) predeceased, Gerald (Ermythe), Douglas (predeceased) (Marilyn), Kenneth (Evelyn), and Donald (predeceased) (Gloria).

Bob grew up in Stratford and worked at the CNR shops with his dad and several brothers. He joined the Army and became a UCO officer. He then returned to Stratford and the shops where he finished his apprenticeship to become a machinist. However at this time Bob had a desire to finish his high school education and become a teacher. His brother (Bill) was the principal of a private Christian school in Nova Scotia so in 1959 Bob moved his family to Nova Scotia and attended the Kingston Bible College Academy where he completed his high school degree. He returned to Stratford and attended Stratford Teachers College and spent the rest of his years teaching. Bob taught at schools in Listowel and St. Mary’s and also at Romeo and Shakespeare Schools in Stratford. While he was teaching he also took summer school university courses and was successful in obtaining his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Western Ontario and his Master of Education degree from the University of Toronto.

Bob also loved to sing. He was always in a church choir and for a number of years he and Jean led a Sunday night hymn sing at Spruce Lodge. He was also a member of the Stratford Concert Choir and the Festival City Kiwanis Club. While with the Kiwanis Club he sang with the Golden Oldies and for many years they provided lots of fun entertainment at several nursing homes.

Bob had a deep faith and felt the Lord’s leading in every way throughout his life. He would say that ‘it has been a good journey’. He is now reunited with his brothers in heaven. Now he has joined the heavenly choir and is singing joyfully away with his rich, deep, bass voice. He will be missed tremendously.
