It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Donald (Don) Dane Leader, age 69, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on January 24, 2021.
Beloved husband and soul mate of Marian, with whom he shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Loving father of John Leader, Leanna Hendriks (Dan), and Byron Leader (July 6, 2014). Cherished grampy to Morgan, Olivia, Corey and Carson. Caring brother of Paul Leader (Elise Lepine), Star Carpenter (Barry, January 1, 2013), Roy Leader (Annette), Shane Leader (Kimberly), and sister in law Jackie Misuraca (Dave Truax). He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Jeff Leader (Dana Hergott), Allison Hache (Dan), Tanya Carpenter (Barrett Kingsborough), Leah McAlister (Brad), Danielle Misuraca, Chaz Misuraca, and his great nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his loving parents, Don Sr and Leah Leader, step-mother Margaret Leader, in-laws John and Gladys Lillow, brother-in-law, Barry Carpenter, and his cherished son Byron Leader. It brings some comfort knowing they are together again.
Don worked in managerial roles for many years, and was especially passionate about his coordinator position at Dyna-Mig in Stratford, which he retired from after many years of service. Don was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Over the years, he was honoured to participate in many fishing tournaments through TBBA (Tri-Bay Bass Association) with his son, Byron, and other partners. Don cherished the many friendships he made throughout his life, and his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was adored by his family and friends, and enjoyed helping others and bringing laughter to all occasions. Don’s love and kindness was always shown to others, and it will remain in our hearts forever. He had a special way of inspiring children, and they were always drawn to him. Don loved all animals, taking in and fostering many animals back to health over the years. His family often referred to him as “the animal whisperer”, as he had a special way of connecting with them. He had many pets throughout his life, and will be missed by his dog and companion, Brynnlea. Don was a very special man, who had a positive impact on many lives. He will be greatly missed.
Due to current restrictions, a private family service will be held. A celebration of life will be planned, once it safe to gather again.
