Eudora (Dorie) Ann Jackson (nee Finn), with daughter Mary Jane Jennings by her side, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021 at Greenwood Court, Stratford, Ontario.
Born March 19, 1925, Dorie led a full and interesting life. She built a career with Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator and Supervisor and continued in similar roles until her retirement at age 65. She fed her gypsy spirit travelling with friends and family to Europe, Bahamas and the USA. Dorie will be well remembered for her baking—the best ever Christmas cakes (light and dark), cream puff pastries, and cakes! She was an avid knitter of afghans, baby sets (sweater, bonnet and booties), Mary Maxim sweaters, and personalized sweaters for lucky grandchildren.
Sister of Ted Finn (Nancy, Jayne and Dianne), Ron Finn (Jennie, Sharron, Martha, Carol), and Fran (Harry, Linda, John, David, Suzanne). Dear wife of James Alfred Jackson, Flight Lieutenant, test pilot WWII, and darling friend and companion of Hugh Fissette MacDonald, Flight Lieutenant, navigator and POW WWII. Loving mother of Geoffrey Jackson (Sharron, Amy and Jeff), Gerry Jackson (Tammy and Liam), Paul Jackson (Gail, Christopher and Angela) and daughter, Mary Jane Jennings (Bob, Natasha, Andrea, Bill and Steven).
Dorie took great pleasure in and was tremendously proud of the achievements of her children and grandchildren. In recent years, Dorie revelled in the energy and life of her great-grandchildren, John and Josephine. We are especially grateful for the care, compassion and love Dorie shared with the staff of Greenwood Court—they are special individuals who became family and lightened the load in her final years.
Dorie will be remembered for her strength, her smile and sense of humour, and her ferocious love for those near and dear to her heart. She will be forever in our hearts and memories. ‘I love you more!”
“Death is not sad, how could it be sad when one is going to meet the family from which we came, and to prepare a heaven for the family we made, nurtured and loved here on earth.” — Eudora Ann Jackson age 95
