It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Isabella (Isa) Gould in her 97th year on March 9, 2021 at Spruce Lodge, her family by her side.
Born in Stratford, she was the only daughter of Leslie and Martha Easun. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Duncan Gould, in 2019. She was also predeceased by her parents, three brothers Harry, Hugh and Leslie and her son in law Fred Polley.
Loving Mother of Janice Polley Miller (Lorne), Carol Bell (Jack), and Steven Gould. Grandmother of Matthew Polley (Valerie), Lisa Crosby, Christopher Polley, Max Bell (Madison), Greg Bell, Kaitlan Gould, Stephanie Gould (Brendan), Cameron Gould and Abigail Gould. Great Grandmother of Nolan and Selina Crosby and Isaac and Mira Polley.
Isa is survived by sister-in-law Sheila Easun and nieces Cathy Graver (Dan), Jane Herlick (Paul), Susan Easun and Marilyn McAdam (Grant) and their families.
Isa lived her whole life in Stratford. After high school she worked at the Royal Bank as a teller. Even in her later years she was still able to add up columns of numbers in her head. She married Duncan in 1949 and began raising their family. She was a gracious hostess, a good friend and committed community and church volunteer. Her chicken pot pies with homemade pastry and her shortbread were coveted at the St John’s United Church Bazaars. Mom loved to sing and was a long time member of the choir at St John’s.
She was incredibly good at organizing events which was especially evident throughout her tenure as Director of the Kiwanis Music Festival during the 60’s and 70’s.
For many years, Duncan and Isa spent the first Saturday of every month with their many friends, mostly playing bridge. Time with friends always included lots of fun and laughter. She enjoyed reading, traveling, needlework, sewing, crafts. We all treasure the special pieces she created for us.
Isa was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. Her family was her priority, we always knew we had her love and support and we will always miss her!
We would like to thank the staff of Spruce Lodge who were so kind and compassionate to Mom during her time at Spruce Lodge. The family also appreciated the caring and support we received.
