Joe Vandenberk, age 91, formerly of Monkton and Stratford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, ON. Born in Holland, son of the late William and Clazina Vandenberk (Birth Mother Maria Lommers). Predeceased by his wife Jean Vandenberk. Joe is survived by his daughters Sandra (Gerard) O’Rourke, Wendy Vandenberk, Dianne (Ed) Janssen, Terry Bruxer (Frank Groenestege) and Tracy (Ron) Williamson. Super proud Opa to Chase, Michelle, Alex, Nicholas, Kirsten, Shannon, Erin, Charlsey, Kelsey, Kerri and Laura. Joe is survived by siblings Bill C. (Tony) Vandenberk, Ted Vandenberk, Martin (Lia) Vandenberk, Jane (Joe) Klunder, Mary Verheyen and sister-in-law Louise Vandenberk. Predeceased by Cor Vandenberk, Willa Vandenberk and Frank Verheyen. Joe will be missed by many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews from the Vandenberk and Geerts/Verheyen families. Joe’s daughters cannot express enough gratitude to both Nithview Homes and Grand River Hospital for their excellent care in spite of challenging times. It has not gone unnoticed. Thank you.
A private family service will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Saturday, April 10, at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Avondale Cemetery.
