Leonard Joseph Petrie, age 89, of London and formerly of Stratford, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on May 9, 2021.Born in South Easthope Township, son of the late James and Ella (Weber) Petrie. 

Beloved husband for 64 years of Margaret (Scheuermann). Loving father of Brenda Campbell (Paul), Gayle Bell (Robert), David Petrie (Lorelei), Linda Boersen (Brian), Brian Petrie (Jennifer). Grandfather of Amanda Joanette (Kailey), Samantha Campbell (Tyler), Bradley Campbell, Sherri Bell-Thompson (Glenn), Kyle Bell (Mattea), Chantelle Petrie (Dan), Aislin Petrie, Sarah Elliott (Matt), Ashley Low (Matt), Scott Boersen (Lyndsey), Noah Petrie and predeceased by Cole Petrie. Lovingly remembered by great grandchildren Zoe, Henry, Maddie, Jamie, Lily, Hannah, Ffion, Daphne and Casey. Also survived by sister Marjorie Smith and predeceased by sister Jean Wilker (Carl). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. 

Leonard started his 44 year career in 1947 at G.L. Griffith and Sons and continued to Standard Products (Cooper Standard) in Mitchell as Plant Manager and then to Stratford until his retirement as Plant Superintendent. He was a member of the Stratford Cribbage League, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #8, Stratford and St. Joseph’s Church. He was an avid sportsman having played many sports over the years. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Brooks and nurse Alison for their care and support over the years. 

A private family service will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday,  May 12, at 2 p.m. Those who wish to join the family for the service from home can do so by following the view livestream link below Leonard’s obituary on the funeral home website.
