Richard “Ray” Francis

Richard Rayfield Francis, age 66 of Stratford passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 29, 2021. Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, son of the late Claude and Rosabelle (LeDrew) Francis. Loving husband of Susan (Zimmerman). Proud father of Amanda (Mike), Richard (Heather), Melissa (Darren), Joshua, Brandon and Sara. Grandfather of Cassaddy, Skylar, Jordan, and Olivia and great grandfather of Aylah. Brother of Mallisa Bath (Glen), Pansey Blake (Gerald), Eugene (Janet), Henry (Joanne), Eric and Brad (Sherry). Also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Nanci Zimmerman-Glew (Geoffrey), Steve Garoupa, Michael Zimmermann (Jill), Paul Zimmerman (Shelly), Peter Zimmerman (Claudia) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by grandson Brett and sister-in-law Kimberley Garoupa. Ray was known for his humour, strength, and compassionate spirit. He was an avid music lover and has an extensive collection of 45s labelled ‘please don’t touch.’ He had an impeccable work ethic and was proudly employed with FAG Bearings Limited/Schaeffler Canada for 44 years until his retirement. Ray, you truly are “the best person we have ever known”. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jacob Matusinec, Dr. Eric Thomas and the Palliative Care Outreach team, and the LHSC for their compassionate care.
