Thomas Patrick Walsh

It is with thanks for a life well lived and with sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Patrick Walsh on May 5, 2021; he was 79 years of age.  Born in Stratford, Ontario, July 14, 1941, Tom lived most of his adult life in Ottawa and Barrie, ON before returning to Stratford in 2017 where he lived at Spruce Lodge.

Tom is survived by his two daughters Monique Vovan (Eric) and Lise Walsh (Steve Lus), four grandchildren Charlotte, Max, Clara and Stella.  Tom is also survived by his sisters Joan (Paul), Irene (Barry) and Catherine (late Gregory, and Vincenzo) and his brother Michael (Francine).  In addition, Tom is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.  Tom was pre-deceased by his parents, Patrick and Violet Myrtle Walsh, his sister Marjorie (late Louis) and his brothers Martin (Kristina) and Joseph Anthony.

Following graduation from the University of Waterloo as a Professional Mechanical Engineer, Tom had a successful career working for a number of Federal Government departments.  Later, Tom operated Crescent Hill Gallery in Barrie, ON, marketing a wide selection of original and print art.  Tom had a quick wit and always had a story to tell.  He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved skiing, camping, boating, canoeing, fishing and, until recently, he was an enthusiastic runner.  Tom was a keen (if at times impatient) golfer, and a loyal Montreal Expos fan — always hopeful of their return.  Also, Tom had an extensive interest in his Irish ancestry.

Tom’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Spruce Lodge who were unfailing at delivering excellent care and support to Tom and his family throughout his stay there.
