Barbara Jane Leyser, age 66, of Stratford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 2, 2021. She was born in Stratford, first child of Frances (Whaling) Leyser and the late Henry Leyser (1999).

Barb is survived by her loving husband Ken Millar. Proud mother and grandmother of Julie Chessell (Chris) and their children Carter, Brock and Rhett; Scott Leyser (Candis) and their children Henry, Lucy and Drew. Sister of Blair (Janice), Joan Ritsma (Durwin), Jim (late Ruth), Dave (Laura), John (Kathe), Rob (Maureen) and Mark. Also survived by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Evelyn and Bob Millar, Ken siblings – Jeff (Connie), Joanne Perry (late Don), Darlene Barker – deceased.

Barb was the fun and fashionable aunt who will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

A devoted single mother, it was very gratifying for Barb to watch her family grow.  She had the most positive outlook on life and put everyone ahead of herself right up until her last breath.  Barb loved annual fall drives, warm, sunny vacations and watching sports. For many years she played in a Thursday night Women’s Volleyball League for Kirby Electric.

She worked at Cooper Standard for 28 years and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Stratford.

Barb found true love with Ken in 2001 and was looking forward to celebrating their 20th anniversary in July but instead spent 7,721 days with him. Every day of the year had a special meaning for Barb.

Thank you to Dr. Sean Blaine and the entire medical teams involved at Stratford General Hospital and London Regional Cancer Clinic for the respect and dignity they gave to Barb. Also, the countless neighbours, work colleagues and friends for all the messages, calls and visits that kept Barb’s hopeful spirit alive.
