Mary Ruth McWilliam (nee Lupton), went peacefully on her journey home on June 11, 2021 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late John McWilliam who always brought a spark to her life. Mary was the last member of her immediate family being predeceased by her parents Innes and Emma, sisters Jean, Marion, Betty and Joyce and brothers Dave, Alex and Jim. Mary is survived by many much loved nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law Fern and Jackie. She saw many places and wonderful sights through travel with family and friends in her younger years. She ran a successful snack bar on Downie Street for many years along side her husband’s garage and towing service. Her homemade pies sure were a favourite. Mary had a long-time interest in her flowers and vegetable gardens and was quick to share her knowledge and produce. In recent years as her health slipped, music brought her much joy. She loved her bingo and a car ride in the country brought her fond memories. Mary enjoyed visits from family and friends and it did not matter if these visits were by phone or in person. She enjoyed our growing families through the tales we told. She had many smiles and laughs as we shared with her. A private family service will be held at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. Those who wish to join the family from home can do so by following the view livestream link under Mary’s obituary on the funeral home website. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice may be made through the funeral home. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com. Many thanks to McCarthy Place for their caring attention over the last years with special thanks to Sarah. The family also wish to thank the Doctors, nurses and support staff at the Stratford General Hospital for the gentle care given to Mary as she made this final journey. In memory of Mary, take a walk outdoors and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
