Paul Carl Huras, age 65, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Saturday, May 29, 2021. We mourn the loss of our son, our brother, our friend. Paul was born with a syndrome that kept him in a wheelchair. It disabled his mobility and learning, but despite this he was full of joy and love which he shared with everyone. For 34 years Paul lived with his loving parents, Beatrice and Walter Huras. He enjoyed his daily jigsaw puzzles, family picnics and events, Sunday drives, going to the cottage, going to “work” on the mobility bus, and taking dad’s dog Mandy for a walk. He listened to hockey or baseball or rock and roll on the radio every night. For 31 years Paul lived in a special home on Gordon Street, most recently with John, Dianne, Andrew, Cheryl, and Chris. It was designed for wheelchairs and Paul was proud to be one of the first residents. From his Gordon Street home Paul went on many adventures – to Disney world, Blue Jays, Leafs & Culliton games, camping, and a trip to Banff. The Stratford Community Living team who supported him are not just caregivers, they are his friends and his family. If you meet your hero’s when you go to heaven, Paul is having a conversation with Elvis right now. Among other family and friends who predeceased him, Paul now joins his dad Walter, his sister Donna Wilker, and his brother Dennis. Also predeceased from the Gordon Street home, his cousin Steve, and friends Bill, Michael, Shirley, and Rita. Paul is survived by his mom – Beatrice, and his siblings Cathy, John (Christine), Peter, Tim and Lynne (Garry). He is also survived aunts and uncles, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
