Vernon (Vern) Lindsay McDonald, aged 91 of Stratford, formerly of King City, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 12th, 2021 at Stratford General Hospital. 

Born in Toronto, son of the late Neil and Madeleine (Cooper) McDonald.  Survived by his loving wife Nora McDonald and their children, Tom McDonald (Janet), Susan Morris (Paul), Gord McDonald (Sue), David Morley (Linda), James McDonald and grandchildren Lauri Meyler (husband Darren and children Grayson, Cael, Norah, and Vaughan), Ryan Myers (wife Alicia and children Jackson, and Brayden), Shane McDonald (Kate).

He was predeceased by his stepdaughter Karen Myers; and grandchildren Morgan McDonald, and Lindsay McDonald; and great granddaughter Avery Howie.

Vern was a true gentleman in every sense. He was loved and well-respected in both his business career (insurance) and personal life.  An avid musician and learner throughout his life. He mastered the keyboard with a particular love for the pipe organ and played organ crawls over decades throughout Ontario and Quebec, taking up guitar lessons at age 89.

A celebration of Vern’s life for fully vaccinated guests will be held on August 25th at 3:00 pm at Revival House, 70 Brunswick Street, Stratford, ON. For those who are not able to attend, the service from St James Anglican Church can be viewed via live stream at, password: McDonald

Limited family and close friends will be notified by email regarding in-person attendance at St James Anglican Church, 6 Hamilton Street, Stratford.
