After a brave battle with cancer we are heartbroken to announce that on February 28, 2021 Herbert Josef Krapf passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Gerolzhofen, Germany on May 14, 1958 he is survived by his wife of 12 years Myra Duncan.  Mother and father Maria and Helmut Krapf, (Gerolzhofen, Germany), fathers-in-law John Rice and Ian Duncan, brother Bernhard Krapf (Claudia) (Gerolzhofen, Germany).  Brothers-in-law Ken Duncan (Wendy) and Mike Rice (Linda), sister-in-law Kelly Rice (Ken), nephew’s Simon Krapf (Mirijam)(Gerolzhofen, Germany), Sawyer Duncan, Mitchell Duncan (Sydney) and Simon Duncan, nieces Franziska Krapf (Gerolzhofen, Germany), Danielle Duncan and Mira and Kiran Dhaliwal. Great niece and nephew Ylva and Gustav Krapf (Gerolzhofen, Germany).  Also survived by good friend Hubert Klein.  Predeceased by his mother-in-law Jane Rice, his uncle Lothar Krapf and his aunt and uncle Waltraud and Otmar Ach in Germany.  Herbert work for many years at Scheffler Germany, before coming to Canada in the early 1990’s to work at Schaeffler Aerospace where he worked as a CNC Programmer and Tooling Engineer until his passing. Herbert enjoyed having wings at the Boars Head for many years on Tuesday nights with good friends Roland Plum, Tony Louzon and whoever else wanted to join them.  Herbert enjoyed watching his favorite soccer team FC Bayern Munich and making our backyard into a beautiful spot for us to enjoy during the summer.  He also loved to travel to Germany to see his family and going to the Caribbean.  Herbert would open his home to any student that had come from Germany to work here for a time, inviting them over for dinner and taking them to Toronto, Niagara Falls anything to make them feel comfortable in Canada. We would like to thank our family physician Dr. Bandey, Oncologists Dr. Lenehan and Dr. Fisher at the LHSC Cancer Clinic, Herberts Palliative Care team nurse practitioner Kendal, nurses Amy, Danielle, Dorie and Karen and PSW’s Mallory and Lori from Right At Home and to all the nurses at the Stratford Rotary Hospice for all your wonderful care and support for both Herbert and I. Myra would like to invite everyone to a Celebration of Herbert’s Life on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. at the Queens Inn (Stratford). In Lieu of flowers please make donations to the LHSC Cancer Clinic or to the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice through the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. 519.271.7411 There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. One last time Herbert says Prost to all.
