Shawn Michael Bohnert passed away peacefully with his wife and children (and partners) at his side on October 24, 2021 at University Hospital in London.

He leaves behind his precious family whom he dearly loved: Mary Dolan Bohnert (best friend and loving wife), Madelaine Rose Bohnert and Jesse McGregor (daughter & fiancé), Dolan Michael Bohnert and Katie Nelson (son and partner), Michael and Eleanor Bohnert (parents), Brad and Lorraine Bohnert (brother & wife), Marnie and Greg Armstrong (sister & husband), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Stratford, Shawn was an active member of the community having served on many boards and was affiliated with many organizations. He had many friends at Scotiabank and TD Bank over his 30+ years in his financial career. His coworkers were considered his “work family”.

Although a less than average life span of 55 years, Shawn did not live an average life.  He traveled where he wanted to travel, laughed inappropriately at every chance, learned what he wanted to learn, fix what he wanted to fix, and loved who he wanted to love.

For those who knew him well you would find him doing one of his favourite things with his best friend Mary:

  • Birding, hiking, loving nature with Dolan
  • Friday night cocktails while listening to 1984 music
  • Enjoying “comfort food” with scotch, wine, stouts or brews
  • Family dinners, love of a good coffee, late night snacks
  • Euchre nights with friends
  • Thursday night Black Swan Running Club
  • Naps
  • Beach walking with their dog Lola
  • Dinner and drinks out with many friends
  • Basking in the Christmas holidays while watching Mary decorate the entire house
  • Whistling to every tune on the radio or with “Alexa”

He will always be remembered for his witty and sarcastic sense of humour, making anyone in his presence laugh and smile.

Shawn took extreme pride in being a father and was exceedingly proud of his children and their many accomplishments.

No funeral services, cremation has already taken place. Meaningful celebrations of life with Shawn’s many friends and family have and will continue to take place privately as we share the many laughs and tears in memory of Shawn.

We are eternally grateful to the ICU team at University Hospital, which consisted of over 100 caring health care providers. Shawn left the earth as an organ donor as his final gift to others.

In remembrance of Shawn, he would appreciate a toast to him and his life. Feel free to quote one of his favourite sayings “Everyone’s a winner!!”
