T. Paul Savelle, age 75, of Stratford, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Stratford, son of the late Fred and Violet (Hood) Savelle. Paul is survived by his loving wife Debra Ann (Player) Savelle. Proud father of Jan (Rick) Ballantyne, Jim Savelle and their mother Beverley Savelle. Amazing grandpa of Ryan (Lindsay), Jocelyn (Eric), Austin (Daphne), Chelsea and great grandpa of Jayce. Paul will be remembered by his siblings Pat Weitzel, Mike (Barb) Savelle and Susan Brooks, his brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law Gord and Cathy Player, John and Vicki Player and Bill and Cindie Player along with is nieces and nephews. Paul was a mechanic by trade, serving his customers as owner of Paul’s BP and Paul’s Service Centre. He retired from the trade to become head custodian at the Festival Inn and finally as a school bus driver for First Student Canada.

Paul had a lifelong love of motorsports, sharing many adventures with friends and family as co-founder and 25-year member of the Stratford Motorsport and Timing Association. He loved his Nascar and motocross but will always be a drag racer at heart!

He enjoyed years of coaching fastball and hockey, but Paul drew the most joy from watching his kids and grandkids play hockey, ringette and baseball. Thursday Health and Safety meetings and daily coffee club will not be the same without him, and he will be fondly remembered by all his camping friends

Paul’s family would like to give special thanks to Dr’s McCune, Mazzetti, Pierce and Barry as well as the professional and compassionate nurses of the Surgical and ICU units at SGH that got to know him so well and took such excellent care of him.

Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Stan and Doris Player, and his brother-in-law Mel Weitzel. In keeping with Paul’s wishes cremation will take place and the family will hold a private graveside service at Avondale Cemetery.
