John passed away peacefully November 13th, 2021, at Stratford Rotary Hospice, in his 84th year, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 62 years, Marian, daughters Shelley Pearson, Marjorie Soepboer (Donald), Bernice Pearson (Don Boyd). A dear Papa to Rebecca Soepboer, Rachel Robichaud (Tim), Jacob Soepboer, Jessica Dill (Beau), Ainslee Hehn (Tim Thompson), Julia Pearson-Boyd (Tom Sinnamon), Andrew Pearson-Boyd, and a great grandson James. John is also survived by his sister Donna Johnson and her husband Ken, brother Alvin and sister-in-law Mary Lou, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John and Mabel (Crawford), brothers Ken, Bill and Roy. John was born in Percival, Saskatchewan, November 25th, 1937, and in 1965 moved his young family to Ontario. At the age of 17 John started his career with the Canadian National Railway, which spanned 46 years. He was also a school bus driver for 14 years.  

John’s passions included automobiles, hobby aviation and country and western music. He was skilled in carpentry and being a “Jack of all trades,” John spent much of his time working hard to ensure his wife and daughters lived comfortably. Travelling throughout Canada and the USA with his family was a near annual event. In his later years, he spent summers camping, boating and fishing along Lake Erie. John will be very much missed by his family, including his furry best friend Minnie. 

It is John’s wish that no funeral service be held. A private family service will take place at Avondale Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice through Young’s Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, Ontario. 519.271.7411
