Sandra Joan Thompson, in her 79th year, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2021 at Stratford General Hospital. Born September 25th, 1943 in Stratford. Predeceased by parents Enid and James Swatridge. Beloved wife for 57 years to Kenneth William Thompson. Dear mother of Jeff Thompson (Tracy). Loving grandmother of Alec and Sarahanne. Dear sister of Stephen Swatridge (Mary Flatt), Sheila Teeple (Bill), Susan Haines (Wyndy), and Stuart Swatridge. 

At the age of 18, Sandra attended Guelph General Hospital where she answered her call to the nursing profession. During Sandra’s 44 year career as an RN she held positions in labour and delivery, advanced neonatal care, and geriatric care. She was dedicated, caring, compassionate and took pride in being an RN. Sandra’s passion for archeology and ancient civilizations drove her to pursue an education at the University of Ottawa where she obtained her BA in Archeology. In addition, her love for history led her to become a world traveller and to explore places like China, the Egyptian Pyramids, the Parthenon, many ruins of Ancient Rome and much more. Sandra will be remembered for her kind heart, determined character, pride in her grandchildren, and love of life. 

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, December 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. All attending must show proof of double vaccination and photo ID. Donations in Sandra’s memory can be made to the Kiwanis Music Festival, or a charity of your choice. 519.271.7411
