Wayne Earl Lindner passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 24, 2022 in his 74th year.  Son of the late Milton and Helen Lindner, Wayne was born in Ellice Township on April 28, 1948.  Loving and cherished husband of Dianne (Wilker) Lindner whom he married on October 3, 1970.  Devoted father of Kristene and Dan McCurdy, Kimberly and Scott Thompson, and Kevin and Carole Lindner.  Dedicated and fun-loving grandfather of Katherine, Joshua, Lucas, Jack, Walker, Hazel, and Izaac.  Lovingly remembered by his sister Linda Lindner, brothers Murray and Lorraine Lindner, Mark and Patti-Jo Lindner, sister-in-law Bernice Lindner, brother-in-law Norman Yost, and his brother and sister-in-law Ross and Joan Wilker.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.  Predeceased by his brothers David (2001), John (stillborn), and his sister Maryann Yost (2019), as well as his father and mother-in-law Victor and Irene Wilker.

Wayne worked for many years for Erie & Huron Beverages (Coca-Cola Bottling) in Stratford and Bright Cheese House in Woodstock.  He spent the last 10 years enjoying his retirement driving for Community Outreach – Knollcrest Lodge.

Wayne was our devoted family patriarch who always took time to help out everyone he knew and spent countless hours volunteering in the community.   Wayne was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was a long-standing member and Past-President of the Stratford Optimist Club.

He was a kind and loving man who enjoyed nothing more than telling a good joke and playing euchre with his family.  Never one to sit still for long, Wayne approached each “fantastic” day with a positive attitude and was often the first one on the dance floor.  He relished in planning family vacations packed full of activities!  Wayne passed on his love of sports to his children and grandchildren and could be counted on to be an ever-present figure at many hockey and baseball games.

Family and friends are invited to the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 5-8pm and again on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 115 Cambria Street, Stratford. Face masks required. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery, followed by fellowship at Arden Park, 552 Ontario Street, Stratford.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Optimism Place which Wayne helped to establish in Stratford.
