Brian Clement Dietrich, age 68 of Stratford, passed away dignified and peacefully at home surrounded by family after his valiant battle with ALS. Brian chose his date and time to be set free with the help from Dr. Thomas and nurse Dory. 

Pre-deceased by his parents Alex and Marie, his brother Joey and sister-in-law, Tanya. Brian was loved by so many including his siblings Murray (Millie), Allan, Ross (Mary-Ellen), Linda (Jerry), Carol (Harry), Gary (Carolyn), Glen (Donna), Mary (Vic), David, Theresa (Rob).  Survived by his adoring spouse, Dorothy, children Jason (Sarah), Keith-their mother Joan, Michael (Makayla), Derek (Joanne), Jaqui (Daniel), his grandchildren Clayton, Kye, Myah, Jordan, Hannah, Ava, Mahdysin, Sevyn, Abby, Eva, and Bella; mother-in-law Norma and the McIver family; daughters-in-law Carla (Trevor) and Hazo.

Brian loved to travel, scuba dive and explore the outdoors. One of his favourite places to visit was the cabin in Temmagami and he was so grateful to take one last trip out west with his son, Jason. Brian was co-owner of Dietrich & Dietrich Concrete for many years with his brother Gary. Brian had a wonderful outlook and an incredible sense of humour. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. 

The family would like to thank the many people that have helped throughout this journey with a special thank you to Dr. Shoesmith and her ALS team, Dr. Thomas, Dr. Blaine, and his favourite nurse Dory.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 2-5pm at W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. A private celebration of life in Brian’s honour to follow. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to ALS Canada or Sick Kids Hospital Toronto through the funeral home.  519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
