Blanche Elaine Schneider
 7 April 1923 – 10 Sept 2022

We are greatly saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Blanche Elaine Schneider at the age of 99 years.  She was born Blanche Elaine Thomson in Kippen, Ontario to Robert Thomson and Agnes Ann Hay who predeceased her as did her husband Lawrence (Lorne) Henry Schneider in 1999.

Blanche was a graduate of Stratford General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 and continued as a Registered Nurse at Stratford General until her retirement. In 1948, she married the love of her life.

She was a jack of all trades – sewing?- boy did she love her embroidery machine and her sewing group, knitting, quilting, needlepoint and prize-winning baking from a young age. We had to hide her tarts and pies or they would be gone before supper!! They really were ‘melt in your mouth!’

Her flower gardens will live on to bring joy for friends and family. If that wasn’t enough to keep anyone else busy she and Lorne renovated homes and loved to rejuvenate furniture.

She was the last of her generation being predeceased by 4 sisters and 2 brothers (1 in infancy) and Lawrence’s family 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Her legacy lives on in her five children, Judy Oake, Paul Schneider (Freda), Gary Schneider (Janet), Dale Schneider and Gail Schneider (Andy Benko) as well as 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 ggg grandchild- as well as many nieces and nephews and their children.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. Family and friends are welcome  to gather for a light lunch following the service. A private interment will be held at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada through the funeral home. 519.271.7411
